Human trafficking has been a key social problem happening in most parts of the world and can be considered a crime for it involves recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring or receipt of people through force, fraud or deception, with the aim of exploiting them for profit. Men, women and children of all ages and from all backgrounds are victims of this crime.
Human trafficking can be in many forms which include exploitation in the sex, entertainment and hospitality industries, and as domestic workers or in forced marriages and sometimes Victims are forced to work in factories, on construction sites or in the agricultural sector without pay or with an inadequate salary, living in fear of violence and often in inhumane conditions;and all these has made the office of JPIC-FA be in the frontline addressing it and other related violations which are against human rights.
Through the office director Sr. Mary Frances, the office has been able to stand firmly against in many parts of Kenya, communities and individuals involved and it has been offering human rights advocacy, Right based approach training and talks to different communities and youth groups. Recently the JPIC-FA facilitated a youth seminar on human trafficking.
