INTERFAITH LEADERS MEDIA BRIEFING
AT THE DESMOND TUTU CONFERENCE CENTER NAIROBI
The interfaith leaders together on 20th september 2024 organized a media briefing at the desmond tutu conference center in Nairobi. The briefing brought together media personnel, journalists, and faith leaders in a move that aimed to advocate for the fossil fuel non proliferation treaty and the need to amplify the faith leaders voice in calling for the Kenyan leaders to endorse the treaty.
Local community voices were not left behind as representatives from the Maasai community joined the faith leaders in urging all the leaders and individuals to endorse the fossil fuel non proliferation treaty which they see as the only hope in the fight against climate change which heavily impacts the communities and is majorly caused by fossil fuels.
Mr. Prince Papa from the fossil fuel non proliferation treaty highlighted the impacts of fossil fuels and its relations to climate change. He shared the history and origin of the fossil fuel non proliferation treaty,A treaty that aims to fill the gaps left un addressed by the paris agreement. He urged the media to join hands together with the faith leaders in amplifying the call to endorse the treaty.

A panel discussion was held that consisted of Miss. Ashley Kitisya, Sr. Mary Wangari ,Rev. Dennis ,Fr. Peter Mbaro, Sheikh Hakeem, Mr. Prince Papa and an elder from the maasai community. The panelists shared insights on why the fossil fuel non proliferation treaty should be advocated by all people in the fight against climate change. Monk Kamita from the Hare Krishna movement added that the fight against fossil fuels and climate change is possible if people unite and start acting in the right way.
The faith leaders proceeded to read the fossil fuel non proliferation treaty statement and urged the government and people of faith to endorse it. They signed and gave copies of the statement to the media.
