
On 14th February the office Justice peace and integrity of creation, Franciscan Africa (JPIC-
FA) and St. Georges primary comprehensive school organized a valentines day celebration
by planting trees in the school compound and they were joined by the Kenya conference of
catholic Bishop’s office of CJPD (Catholic justice and peace department) led by Eusebius
Atamalo.

The headteacher St. Georges welcomed us and gave us the permission to interact with the members of the the Environment and Wildlife club in the school headed by Teacher Patrick and the club chairperson Gloria and after a round of introduction the JPIC-FA executive director Sr. Mary Wangari Sebastian LSSJ highlighted the importance of taking care of our common home (Mother Earth) who shares her love by providing to our needs and the JPIC-FA programs manager Steeven Kezamutima emphasized on the need to respond to Pope Francis call in the Encyclical letter Laudato Si.

Members of the environment club joyfully celebrated their valentine by engaging in tree planting and they planted nearly 100 seedlings and promised to plant the remaining 350 seedlings when the planting holes will be ready, adopt and be taking care of them and the club patron Mr. Patrick asked the JPIC-FA office to continue engaging the school in training the pupils on environmental care and the importance of training the young generation on agro-ecology.
