At JPIC Franciscans Africa, peace is not just a goal — it’s a way of life. Since our founding in 2008, we have been at the forefront of promoting justice,Peace and social cohesion across communities in Africa. Inspired by the bold witness of St. Francis of Assisi, who fearlessly journeyed to Damietta to seek peace amidst conflict, we embrace his legacy through action, dialogue, and transformation.
What Drives Us
During the Francis@35 anniversary, JPIC FA brought together youth of all backgrounds to nurture values of tolerance, acceptance, and care not only for one another but also for creation. Our aim is to raise a generation of peacebuilders ,peace ambassadors, bridge-makers, ready to transform mindsets and communities from within.
Our Peace Building Milestones
Over the years, we’ve implemented impactful peace initiatives, including:
· 📚 Civic education programs focused on peaceful coexistence and responsible citizenship.
· 🕊️ Peace training for Franciscan Animators, empowering them to be ambassadors of Justice , peace, Love & harmony in their ministries and communities.
· 👥 Monitoring government human rights practices through the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) in collaboration with Franciscan International (F.I).
· 🌳 Post-election Mau Forest Peace Initiative, encouraging unity , peace living, co existence , acceptance and reconciliation.
· 🏍️ Boda-boda peace awareness campaign (2013) led by Sr. Mary W. Sebastian and Br. Joe Masumbuko ahead of national elections,
· 🚐 Peace Caravans (2017–present) in hotspot areas to foster dialogue, unity, and mutual respect.
· 🎭 Interfaith forums and drama outreach, using creative expression to break barriers and spread messages of peace.
